5. Supporter contact
BAR reserves the right to contact you about matters relating to your support on your nominated contact details, for the duration of your support with us.
You may unsubscribe from receiving emails from us at any time using the unsubscribe link found in the footer of emails from BAR.
6. Donations
We do not store your financial or credit card details. If you donate to BAR in error, please contact us within seven days, and we will refund your contribution within 40 days.
Every effort shall be made to raise unrestricted funds that offer BAR operational flexibility to meet the needs of animals used in science. However, when donors demand that donations are gifts which are restricted, funds shall be used for purposes consistent with the donor’s intent, as indicated by the donor or as described in the relevant fundraising campaign material.
When it is likely that funds will exceed the amount required for a specific fundraising campaign, BAR a will have a statement on our website and/or in communication materials that states what will happen to any additional funds.
Payment and payment processing of donations
If you have elected to pay by credit card online when signing up or renewing your support with us, the transaction is handled securely over HTTPS protocol which encrypts data transfer. Our transaction provider, Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant.
Regular donations
Payment by direct debit is set up directly with your authority and may be amended or updated by you at any point:
- Through your online donor portal which you can access using the link we've included in any email we’ve sent you about your regular gift (look for the "Manage my donation" link).

New Zealand donation receipts for tax credits
In accordance with applicable taxation legislation requirements, donors shall be provided with specific acknowledgments of their contributions as well as any other information to facilitate their compliance with such requirements.
7. Other disclosures
BAR may use 3rd parties to perform its functions or to improve its services. In this case, only information required to be disclosed will be disclosed, and the third party will be bound by this privacy policy.
8. Security of your personal data
We employ reasonable measures to prevent the loss, misuse, or alteration of your data. Information is stored, accessed and retained in accordance with our Privacy Policy and in compliance with the Privacy Act 2020. However, you are responsible for keeping your login details confidential.

You have the right to request a copy of any personal information we hold about you, ask for corrections, or request its removal.
